Area Activities

Full or Half day experience at WFFT
See our hundreds of animals, and get up close and personal to our elephants in a way which is cruelty-free and does not exploit them. Get to meet your elephant neighbors and take one of our lovely ladies for a walk in the local forest and for a refreshing shower afterwards.

Eat Thai food in Khao Look Chang
Khao Look Chang has a few traditional local restaurants where delicious Thai food can be sampled with a relaxed atmosphere completely submerged in Thai culture - there is even a local restaurant where dishes are served from a locals home kitchen! Wherever you choose to dine, we suggest trying a traditional Thai curry soup - watch out for the spice!

Relax and unwind with a beach day
Head to our local towns of Cha Am or Hua Hin for a relaxing day on the beach. Sample the local Thai cuisine and soak up the rays in the beautiful cities. Hua Hin is famous with the locals for housing one of the King’s largest palaces in the country and becomes very popular with locals at the weekends as it is the most southern beach resort on the mainland.

Water sports Galore
Both of our local towns provide a huge selection of adrenaline pumping water sports from Ringo’s to flying banana boats along with jet skis and more relaxing Lilo’s for sale on street stalls. Cool yourself down and go for a splash in the waters of the Andaman Sea.

Wat Khao Look Chang
Visit our local buddhist temple located just 5 minutes walk from the rescue centre to see one of the few areas believed to have been where Big Buddha has walked. Stroll around the grounds in order to see the 15m lying down Buddha and climb the temple to the top of the rocks to see a traditional temple - just make sure to cover your knees and shoulders to show respect.

Night Markets - Bargains and Bazaars
Our local village offers very small night markets 3 evenings a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays where you can find traditional thai delicacies and mingle with the locals. If you want to collect some souvenirs for friends back home why not head to the famous Hua Hin night market that stretches across two streets and test out your bartering skills.

Wildlife in the wild - National Parks
At WFFT we are surrounded by one of Thailand’s largest national parks which is home to many of the incredible species indigenous to Thailand. Wake up early and Trek through the jungle trails at Kaeng Krachan national park in search of wildlife and waterfalls or take a more relaxing day and drive through KuiBuri National Park with a ranger. You have one of the best chances of seeing elephants in the wild in Thailand as well as enjoying the beautiful scenery of unspoiled Thai forests.

Vana Nava or Black Mountain Water Parks - Hua Hin
Asia’s first water jungle encourages over 200,000 living species to grow around its tropical jungle of 19 exciting rides and slides with fun for all of the family. The lazy river and infinity bar offer a nice area to relax and enjoy a cocktail or two before heading to the wave pool at the base of the tallest manmade mountain waterfall in Thailand.

Bat Caves at Sunset
About 5 kilometers outside of our local town Cha-Am you will find a beautiful forested mountain with a large hidden bat cave, from where more than 10 million bats take flight. This spectacle starts every night with the bats flying out in a stream directly above you in the beautiful red sunset of Thailand.

  • review rating 5  What an inspiring place. This is the future for wild life reserves around the world. We had the most amazing experience with elephants. Basically slept beside and above them. The founder Edwin and his team where so approachable and helpful. Stay the night to really fully experience the place. The restuarant had a sunset that blew my mind. The food is excellent and mainly vegan which suits my tastes and is in keeping with the not for profit organisations ideals. They support the local community and animal welfare. Five plus stars.

  •   This place lives up to all of the excellent, 5-star reviews for Wildlife Friends Foundation. The one addition I would make is to recommend spending an extra night or two. It’s such a relaxing paradise — albeit a hot one — that we easily could have stayed longer.

We arrived the night before our scheduled tour, but wish we could have extended our stay! Comfortable rooms (w/ A/C), great food, friendly staff, and amazingly cool sights and sounds on this animal preserve that features 25 elephants. We’ll be back!

  •   We stayed here as guests (a group of 9 - mixed ages) for two nights. The I Love Phants Lodges are for guests visiting the WFFT centre. The lodges are well equipped, clean and modern with 5G wifi which is a bonus. The outside showers are brill, gas powered but most effective.
The lodges are surrounded by an elephant enclosure and the elephants come to visit often. Its mind blowing. Volunteers stay in a different part of the centre.
The cook assigned to the lodges does an amazing job with breakfast and dinner and is flexible with their approach - enquiring what guests would prefer. Five new lodges are opening in Feb 2018 and those are going to be spectacular. Cant wait to go back

  •   My partner and I stayed here for one night before leaving Thailand. We were greeted by a wonderfully nice woman who explained everything for us and took our meal orders. All our meals were included and they give you huge portions of delicious home cooked, freshly picked food. I’m vegan and had good options and they were very accommodating! We stayed in lodge 4 that has a beautiful bathroom, open bedroom area and wonderful porch over looking the elephant enclosure. The elephants stopped right in front of our porch multiple times. They’re very chill but so much fun to just watch. By the dinning area, 100 meters away, you can feed them and pet them. We stayed in a room with out AC. A large fan in the room kept us cool, but i think some rooms offer AC if you easily get hot. Once you get here, you don’t really leave. I sat on the porch journal, read, watched the wildlife, watercolor paints, watched the sun go down and my partner took a nap. Then we had dinner and afterwards the elephants continued to walk around our lodge. If you keep the window or back door open (has a screen) you can hear them come around and pop out to throw them fruit or say goodnight. One slept the whole night at our porch. It was so delightful. This was an such a beautiful place to stay.

  • review rating 5  We slept in the Eco-Lodge and I think it's worth every penny. It's located in the heart of this huge resort that's dedicated to saving various wild animals from Elephants to Gibbons. The staff are very friendly and helpful. But more importantly, you realize that you're not in some Hotel focused on profits, but a place that makes use of our money to help the animals that they're saving. The atmosphere is very tranquil, and you can meet the various volunteers and even founder when walking about. Their dedication is felt and helps the place feel authentic. The lodge itself is very modern and cozy, made up of two floors. The first floor is an open kitchen/dining/relax area from where you can sit and interact with Elephants looking for treats. Upstairs is a patio, and the entrance to two separate guest accomodations. The one we slept in was very modern, clean and even had a nice outdoor shower area. We especially liked that the air-conditioner was quiet and didn't blow directly on our heads - a common issue in Thai Hotels. The magic happened for us when the sun set. With the moon illuminating jungle around us, it feels as if time stops for a bit. Gibbons can be heard from afar, and Fireflies glitter around the small lake that's right in front of you. It was captivating, lying on our patio upstairs and just observing the nature around us. We opened a bottle of Tequila we brought along, and as I was petting the friendly local cat that laid beside me - for that moment I was convinced that this is one of the most magical places we've been to.

  • review rating 5  Run by the equally excellent Wildlife Friends Foundation of Thailand, this lodge is a must(h) for anyone who truly loves and respects elephants, and wildlife in general. I don't know where to begin to describe the marvellousness of it. The rooms are luxurious, generously sized, with open-air showers in clean, modern bathrooms, and -- essential for so many of us -- 5G wifi. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the breakfasts (and food in general) excellent. While all that is easily found elsewhere in Thailand and Asia, what makes this place unique is that you are truly a guest of the elephants, camping out in their backyard as it were. Namfon, Sriplueak and Dueanphen stop by repeatedly during the day and night to say hi and to check whether perhaps you have some fruit that needs eating. The whooping of the gibbons and the other jungle sounds all around will cleanse your soul of any urban debris, and the guided tour of the WFFT will alert you to how bad things really are for our world's wildlife. Learn what is done to elephants just so that we can ride on them or exclaim at them "painting" at one of the many other places that cater to elephant "lovers". By staying here, you are helping to counteract this, instead of inadvertently becoming part of the problem. Quite apart from having an absolutely incredible experience as you meet and learn the individual (usually tragic) stories of the elephants, gibbons, sun bears, leaf monkeys, cassowaries and and and. I'm delighted and grateful that staying in such a wonderful place can also mean ensuring a happier ending to these stories.
