It's located in the heart of this huge resort that's dedicated to saving various wild animals from Elephants to Gibbons. The staff are very friendly and helpful. But more importantly, you realize that you're not in some Hotel focused on profits, but a place that makes use of our money to help the animals that they're saving. The atmosphere is very tranquil, and you can meet the various volunteers and even founder when walking about. Their dedication is felt and helps the place feel authentic. The lodge itself is very modern and cozy, made up of two floors. The first floor is an open kitchen/dining/relax area from where you can sit and interact with Elephants looking for treats. Upstairs is a patio, and the entrance to two separate guest accomodations. The one we slept in was very modern, clean and even had a nice outdoor shower area. We especially liked that the air-conditioner was quiet and didn't blow directly on our heads - a common issue in Thai Hotels. The magic happened for us when the sun set. With the moon illuminating jungle around us, it feels as if time stops for a bit. Gibbons can be heard from afar, and Fireflies glitter around the small lake that's right in front of you. It was captivating, lying on our patio upstairs and just observing the nature around us. We opened a bottle of Tequila we brought along, and as I was petting the friendly local cat that laid beside me - for that moment I was convinced that this is one of the most magical places we've been to.

  • review rating 5  Had an incredible stay at the Phants lodge! The rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable. And you really can’t beat the view: elephants frequently strolling by just below our balcony. The staff are lovely and they'll prepare delicious meals for you. While staying at the lodge, I highly recommend booking a full day tour. It’s both fun and inspiring to explore the massive wildlife refuge. You'll get to meet the animals up close, hear their stories, and learn a ton. Will definitely be back!

  • review rating 5  Run by the equally excellent Wildlife Friends Foundation of Thailand, this lodge is a must(h) for anyone who truly loves and respects elephants, and wildlife in general. I don't know where to begin to describe the marvellousness of it. The rooms are luxurious, generously sized, with open-air showers in clean, modern bathrooms, and -- essential for so many of us -- 5G wifi. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the breakfasts (and food in general) excellent. While all that is easily found elsewhere in Thailand and Asia, what makes this place unique is that you are truly a guest of the elephants, camping out in their backyard as it were. Namfon, Sriplueak and Dueanphen stop by repeatedly during the day and night to say hi and to check whether perhaps you have some fruit that needs eating. The whooping of the gibbons and the other jungle sounds all around will cleanse your soul of any urban debris, and the guided tour of the WFFT will alert you to how bad things really are for our world's wildlife. Learn what is done to elephants just so that we can ride on them or exclaim at them "painting" at one of the many other places that cater to elephant "lovers". By staying here, you are helping to counteract this, instead of inadvertently becoming part of the problem. Quite apart from having an absolutely incredible experience as you meet and learn the individual (usually tragic) stories of the elephants, gibbons, sun bears, leaf monkeys, cassowaries and and and. I'm delighted and grateful that staying in such a wonderful place can also mean ensuring a happier ending to these stories.
